head_gfxwarrior_tuts_3ds_particles_along_path

Hi
In this tutorial I describe, how to forced particles, to fly along a designated path.
In our guide I use Helix shape as a path.

step.01

Create > Shapes (Splines) > Helix

At the beginning create a path, along which the particles will move. In our case it will be Helix curve.
Use the following parameters:
Radius 1: 60
Radius 2: 10
Height: 50
Turns: 5
Bias: 0

And our Helix should looks like this:

Now select our Helix and right-click on the Select and Move button.
Change the position of the curve at X = 0, Y = 0, Z = 0.

step.02

Create > Geometry (Particle Systems) > PF Source

It’s time to create particles. In the Create tab, select Geometry and choose Particle Systems.
Create a PF Source. Set Length and Width of our PF Source at 5.

Now select our PF Source and right-click on the Select and Rotate button.
Change the rotation of the PF Source at X = -90, Y = -0, Z = 0.

Select our PF Source and right-click on the Select and Move button.
Change the position of the curve at X = 60, Y = -12, Z = 0.

After positioning PF Source our scene should looks like this:

Delete Speed

Now insert into our event Speed By Icon. You can drag it from the bottom window.

Insert Speed By Icon

In Birth set Emit Stop at 80, and Amount at 400.
Emit Stop – when emitter stops emitting particles.
Amount – how many particles will be emitted.
